- Scope & Content:
-
Tolg icon of Virgin was called by the name of river Tolga in memory of miracle appearance of the icon in 1314 to Rostov bishop Prochor. Tolg monastery was found on the place of this miracle appearance not far from town Jaroslavl. The manuscript contains the canon to icon only. It was written in the second half of the 19th century as its paper has a stamp of Protasiev's paper mill. There is an unknown owner's note on the first page: "A.I.Sh." with address: town Arkhangelsk, Maymax, timber mill 29. Maymax is a great region in Arkhangelsk; timber mill 29 is the most northern. The manuscript was bought from E.S. Perepelkina from village Okruga Plesetsky region Arkhangelsk district.
