The manuscript is a fragment of collection of pateric stories and sermons. It includes "Sermon of John Chrysostom how to rise at night to pray", "Sermon about Saint monk Vitalij who left his cell and went to Alexanderia and saved a lot of whores", "Sermon of Saint Nifont about God's temptation". It is a miscellanea for home didactic reading. Such books were popular among monks and laymen. The manuscript was written in the second half of the 19th century on a paper with watermark with date 1818. There is an inscription "About prayer about drunkenness" on the paper cover. Though the first folios are lost, we may suggest that the manuscript initially was a small writing-book with a few folios with short didactic sermons, and it was not a great codex.
Extent: 4 folios and a cover.
Size and dimensions of original material: Height 17 cm, width 10,5 cm.
Condition of original material: The beginning of the manuscript is absent. The folios were sewed together during restoration in the Library in 1988. At the time an upper paper cover was glued on a new carboard cover and two new folios were added to the manuscript in the beginning and in the end to protect its folios.
Custodial history: The manuscript was collected during the archeographical expedition to the Old believers in Kargopol district in 1968.
