This fragment of manuscript contains the end of the Life of Saint Makarij Zheltovodskij and the Homilia on penance of Ephrem the Syrian entirely. Saint Makarij Zheltovodskij was a Russian saint who lived presumably in the second half of the 14th and in the first half of the 15th century, but worship of him began to grow only in the 17th century. Ephrem the Syrian was one of the most popular ascetic author in Russia. His Homilia on penance was read every year before the Lent. This manuscript was written in the beginning of the 19th century on a paper with date 1807.
Фрагмент рукописи сохранил последние строки Жития св. Макария Желтоводского и целиком Слово о покаянии Ефрема Сирина. Макарий Желтоводский - русский святой, основатель Желтоводского и Унженского монастырей. По преданию, он жил во второй половине 14 - первой половине 15 века, но особым почитанием стал пользоваться в 17 веке. Ефрем Сирин - один из наиболее популярных христианских писателей-аскетов в России. Слово о покаянии читалось перед началом Великого поста. Рукопись переписана в начале 19 века на бумаге с "белой" датой 1807.
Extent: 9 folios.
Size and dimensions of original material: Height 21 cm, width 17 cm.
Condition of original material: The beginning and the end of the manuscript are absent. It had 22 folios in the beginning at least according to the pagination of folios. The folios has dirty spots. The fragment had not any cover; a new cover was made during restoration of the manuscript in 1968.
Custodial history: The manuscript was collected during the archeographical expedition to the Old believers in Kargopol district in 1968.
