- Scope & Content:
-
The manuscript contains the only text - a service to Saints of Solovetzkij monastery, St. Zosima and St. Savvatij who were the first hegumens of the monastery in the 15th century. St. Savvatij was a founder of Solovetzkij monastery with St. German, and St. Zosima was a follower of St. Savvatij and the second hegumen of the monastery. They were one of the most worshiped Saints in Russia and there were a lot of special prayer books with service and prayers to these Saints. The cult of Solovetzkij Saints was popular among Old Believers. This manuscript of the second part of the 19th century was brought from village Okruga of Ploes region. It includes canon to St. Zosima, echos 8, and canon to St. Savvatij, echos 2.
