- Scope & Content:
- Petition to a magister (official on the staff of the dux, military governor) from Dioscorus, who complains about the misdeeds of the pagarch Melas. Not only did Melas confiscate his lands in Phthla, leaving to Dioscorus the liability for the taxes, but he also committed outrages against Dioscorus’ family. The text continues on the back.

- Medium-to-dark-brown papyrus sheet, lacking part of the left-hand edge and with damage along the folds; bearing writing on both sides. On the front, there are 32 lines written along the fibres, most of which lack the beginnings; on the back, there are 25 lines written across the fibres, the other way up in relation to the text on the front; most of the lines lack the beginnings. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Script: Sloping cursive hand of Dioscorus (Hand B) of fair size, with a tendency to become smaller and more compressed.

Provenance: Aphrodito, Antaiopolite nome, Egypt. Purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 1545-1753 from the Reverend Chauncey Murch (b. 1856, d. 1907) on 8 December 1906.
