Upper papyrus (A) (P.Michael. 16, TM 28824): Beginning of a private letter to a brother inquiring about his health, as he has not written in a while. The back bears the address with the sealing pattern.
Lower papyrus (B) (P.Michael. 17, TM 28825): Fragment of a letter concerned with the transport of grain to Pepsa, the location of which is unknown.

Two papyrus fragments that do not belong together, housed in the same glass frame.
Upper papyrus (A): Upper portion of a medium-brown papyrus sheet, complete on the sides; with writing on both sides. On the front, there are 11 lines from the top of a column, written along the fibres; traces of another line are visible at the bottom; upper and side margins are extant; folding lines are still visible. On the back, there is one line written along the fibres, lacking the end. A small papyrus scrap bearing writing is pasted onto the top of the sheet.
Lower papyrus (B): Light-brown papyrus fragment, with surface damage; writing runs on one side, and the back is blank. On the front, there are 8 lines written along the fibres; one line was written along the left margin across the fibres. Left and right margins are extant.

Dimensions: A: 70 x 67 mm; B: 62 x 70 mm; housed in a glass frame measuring 205 x 120 mm.
Script: A: Neat and skilled upright cursive hand; verso: fair-sized, upright cursive hand; B: Rather irregular cursive hand, with a tendency to become smaller, more rapid and compressed.

Origin: Egypt.
Provenance: Egypt. Acquired with other Michaelides material, including Papyri 3100-3131, in April 1979 and transferred from the Department of Oriental Manuscripts and Printed Books in May 1979. Formerly part of the private collection of Georges Anastase Michaelides (b. 1900, d. 1973), antiquities dealer in Cairo, sold by his heirs after his death, under the inventory number 1473.
