The volume contains letters written by the Police Magistrate and clerks at various courts in Freetown between 18 November 1892 and 12 February 1897. It contains an alphabetical index that lists letters by the name of the recipient, and provides the subject and the page number in the volume. The letters include the name of the Police Magistrate, and the date on which they were written. Most of the letters concern the forwarding of depositions or returns. The volume is bound in blue cloth boards. There is extensive water damage. The paper in the volume is brittle, and the last pages are breaking away from the binding.
