Provenance: Memphis, Egypt. Extracted from a sandal made of papyrus; formerly inventoried as EA 6994 (wrongly numbered 6999); acquired by the British Museum in April 1837 (acquisition no.: 1837,4-18.15) and transferred from the Egyptian Department of the British Museum on 19 February 1971.
