- Scope & Content:
- Petition to the hypodioiketes Sarapion from Ptolemaeus son of Glaucias, ‘recluse’ (katochos) in the Serapeum, on behalf of Taous and Tages, twin sisters in the Serapeum. Ptolemaeus recalls the king’s decisions as regards the oil allowances still due to the twins, and asks Sarapion to order Mennides to act accordingly; written shortly after 27 September. Traces of erased lines in Demotic are visible.

- Light-brown papyrus sheet, complete and well preserved, with minor damage along a vertical fold. The writing runs on one side and the back is blank. On the front, there are 30 lines running along the fibres; all margins are extant. Traces of erased lines are visible in the left margin. A sheet-join runs vertically along the left edge. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Dimensions: 330 x 169 mm; housed in a glass frame measuring 355 x 195 mm.
Script: Careful and neat upright hand with cursive elements and a tendency to become more rapid; occasionally compressed at the end of the lines; lines tend to incline upwards.

Provenance: Memphis, Serapeum in Saqqara. Purchased with Papyri 17-36 at Salt's sale at Sotheby's in June 1835 (lot 565).
