Two receipts from the Holy Church of Hermopolis.
Upper papyrus (A) (P.Lond. V 1782, TM 38859): Receipt recording a payment for rent on land, issued to the heirs of Daniel by the administrator (pronoetes) Senuthius, represented by Theodosius, on behalf of the Holy Church of Hermopolis.
Lower papyrus (B) (P.Lond. V 1783, TM 38860): Receipt recording a payment for rent on land, issued to Abba Pachar by the notary and collector Menas through Theodosius, on behalf of the Holy Church of Hermopolis.

Two papyrus sheets with writing on one side, mounted on cardboard in the same glass frame.
Upper papyrus (A): Medium-brown papyrus sheet, square-shaped, only lacking the lower right corner. The front bears six lines running across the fibres; upper, right and left margins are minimal.
Lower papyrus (B): Light-brown papyrus sheet, complete and well preserved; the front bears seven lines running across the fibres; upper, right and left margins are minimal.

Dimensions: A: 84 x 174 mm; B: 90 x 144 mm; housed in a glass frame measuring 230 x 225 mm.
Script: Upright cursive hands of minuscule type; ink turned brown. Last line of B possibly by different hand, in black ink and with a thinner pen.

Provenance: Hermopolis (El-Ashmunein), Hermopolite nome, Egypt. Purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 1545-1753 from the Reverend Chauncey Murch (b. 1856, d. 1907) on 8 December 1906.
