- Scope & Content:
- Portion of a gnomic anthology, with remains of iambic trimeters in column 1 and hexameters by the tragic poet Chaeremon in column 2; the second column, placed after some blank space, contains an acrostic of Chaeremon’s name. The text has been assigned to the middle of the 3rd century BC. Papyrus 691(A) (P.Grenf. II 6(b)), and P. Heid. inv. G. 434 may be further fragments of the same anthology.

- Fragment of a papyrus roll, extracted from mummy cartonnage, written on one side. The front bears portions of two columns written along the fibres; of the first column, portions of 17 lines remain; of the second, after some blank space, the beginnings of 9 lines survive. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.

Materials: Papyrus.
Dimensions: 118 x 103 mm; housed in a glass frame measuring 190 x 185 mm.
Script: Informal hand, skilled but rather irregular; mostly square and somewhat compressed, with some small letterforms (see omicron and epsilon); overall bilinear, with some uprights descending below the line; with serifs in places.

Provenance: Ankyropolis (El-Hiba), Egypt. From mummy cartonnage (Mummy A). Presented with a lot comprising Papyri 2943-3035 by the Committee of the Egypt Exploration Society on 9 April 1960.
