Recto (P.Lond. III 948 ro., TM 11822): Aurelius Heracles, son of Dioscorus, a ship-captain, undertakes to ship 250 artabas of vegetable seed to the harbour in Oxyrhynchus for Aurelius Areius, a councillor at Arsinoe, at a price of 100 drachmas. Of these, 60 drachmas will be received upon delivery. The subscription of Heracles is at the end, followed by the date (corresponding to 19 October 236).
Verso (P.Lond. III 948 vo., TM 11050): Letter from Heraclides to Heroninus and Syrus on various matters, including instructions to collect some payments owed by shepherds. Dated 14 February 257.

Medium-brown papyrus sheet, complete, with slight damage and dark-stained on the front; written on both sides. The front bears 16 lines written along the fibres; all margins are extant; the back was reused to host another text, complete, consisting of 16 lines running along the fibres. All margins are extant. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.
