Papyrus roll containing several tax accounts.
Recto:
Lines 1-22 (A) (TM 39757): Account of requisitions for naval purposes, arranged by place.
Lines 23-30 (B, left column) (TM 39758): Shorter account of similar nature, dated in in the 8th indiction.
Lines 31-40 (C, right column) (TM 39759): Account for the fifth indiction, recording various places in the administrative district of Aphrodito and the sums paid.
Lines 41-end (D) (TM 39760): Account of payments for the grain-tax for the first indiction, arranged by place, with the yearly total of artabas of wheat paid.
Verso:
Text across the fibres in the upper half (E) (TM 39761): Account listing individuals, the place where they held land and the tax payments. The first line was washed out.
Text across the fibres in the lower half (G) (TM 39761): Tax account, possibly concerning the poll-tax.
Writing parallel to the fibres (F) (TM 39761): Parts of an account relating to gold taxes.

One large fragment and several smaller ones from a papyrus roll; written on both sides across the fibres, with the exception of a few lines on the back that run along the fibres. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.

Script: Recto: Sloping, rapid minuscule hand, rather irregular. Verso: Two or three hands of similar character.

Provenance: Aphrodito (Kom Ishgau), Antaiopolite nome, Egypt. Purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 1200-1520 from the Reverend Chauncey Murch (b. 1856, d. 1907) on 20 November 1903.
