Upper papyrus (A) (P.Lond. V 1887 descr., TM 36988): Sixth-century private letter of Aphous to Apa Hermodorus, with the request to send three artabas of barley for sowing; the address partly survives on the back.
Lower papyrus (B) (P.Lond. V 1802, TM 35259): Fifth- or sixth-century order addressed to Hermapollon by the count (comes) Anatolius, instructing him to pay 10,000 silver talents; with Anatolius’ subscription in the last line.

Two papyrus slips that do not belong together, housed in the same glass frame.
Upper papyrus (A): Medium-brown papyrus sheet, complete but damaged by holes, with a big gap in the centre; written on both sides. The front bears portions of 5 lines written across the fibres, followed by a short column of 4 lines placed in the centre. On the back, there is the beginning of one line running along the fibres.
Lower papyrus (B): Medium-brown papyrus sheet, complete but damaged by holes and abrasion; written on one side. The front bears 3 lines running across the fibres; a sheet-join runs horizontally along the lower edge. The back is blank.

Script: A: Small upright cursive hand. B: Upright cursive hand; same hand as Papyrus 1677; different cursive hand for the subscription, same as the subscriptions in Papyri 1677 and 1678(B).
