Upper papyrus (A) (P.Lond. V 1911 descr., TM 33202): Beginning of a petition of the early fourth century from Aurelia Sarra, of Herakleopolis, to Aurelius Dorotheus and Aurelius Turbon, exactores of the city. Details are lost.
Lower papyrus (B) (P.Lond. V 1785, TM 38862): Seventh-century receipt for the payment of 23 gold carats as rent, issued by the Holy Church of Hermopolis through the administrator (pronoetes) Colluthus to the farmer Eusebius.

Two papyrus sheets that do not belong together, mounted on cardboard in the same glass frame.
Upper papyrus (A): Upper portion of a medium-brown papyrus sheet, with some surface damage; written on one side. The front bears 5 lines from the top of a column running along the fibres, with traces of a further line at the bottom. The back is blank.
Lower papyrus (B): Light-brown papyrus sheet, complete, with little damage along the right edge; written on one side. The front bears 6 lines running across the fibres, written in the upper half of the sheet; the lower half is blank. Margins are extant. The back is blank. Folding lines are still visible; there are traces of the original seal, which has not survived.

Dimensions: A: 62 x 102 mm; B: 95 x 85 mm; housed in a glass frame measuring 230 x 155 mm.
Script: A: Small, proficient cursive hand, with a slight slant to the right. B: Upright hand of medium size, same as Papyrus 1703.

Provenance: A: Herakleopolis (Inhnasya el-Medina), Egypt. B: Hermopolis (El-Ashmunein), Hermopolite nome, Egypt. Both papyri were purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 1757-1786 from Ali Abd-el-Haj on 12 October 1907.
