Abstract from an official birth register recording the birth of Herennas by his father Marcus Lucretius Diogenes, whom he had from his divorced wife Ammonarion. There follow the names of three guarantors, the dating clause, the name of the president (prytanis) of the council, and the official subscription of a member of the council of Antinoopolis.

Dark-brown papyrus sheet, complete except for a detached strip on the right; with surface damage in places; written on one side along the fibres. The front bears 15 lines; all margins survive, the right being imperfect. Seven vertical folds are visible. The back is blank. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.

Dimensions: 260 x 287 mm; housed in a glass frame measuring 315 x 330 mm.
Script: Fine example of chancery hand. Different hand for the subscriptions in the last two lines.

Origin: Antinoopolis, Egypt.
Provenance: Philadelpheia, meris of Herakleides, Arsinoite nome, Egypt. The three papyri were purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 2486-2542 from Maurice Nahman (b. 1868, d. 1948) in September 1922. Part of a joint purchase with the University of Michigan and Cornell University.
