Fragment of an account recording payments made to professional scribes. Two rates of salary are given based on the quality of the writing. On the back, there are remains of other texts (unpublished), the best preserved of which concerns business matters and contains a reference to the Prosopite nome.

Lower right corner of a medium-brown papyrus, with some holes; written on both sides. The front bears the lower parts of two columns written along the fibres; lower and right margins are extant. The back contains remains of 5 lines from a column, under which is another column; on the right, the ends of a couple of lines from another column survives, followed by ample blank space. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.

Origin: Oxyrhynchus, Oxyrhynchite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Oxyrhynchus, Oxyrhynchite nome, Egypt. Purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 2103-2239 from Bernard Pyne Grenfell (b. 1869, d. 1926) in May 1920. Grenfell had bought the papyrus in the previous months from Abdallah Ismail.
