A short treatise in 25 bābs on the astrolabe quadrant, written by ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Muḥammad al-Wafāʿī (عبد العزيز بن محمد الوفائي, active 15th century) in 843/1439 and based on the works of the muwaqqits (official timekeepers) Jamāl al-Dīn ʿAbd Allāh al-Māridīnī (جمال الدين عبد الله المارديني, d. 1406) and Shams [also: Zayn] al-Dīn Muḥammad al-Mizzī (شمس [زين] الدين محمد المزي. d. 1349), who was also an instrument-maker (see the astrolabe quadrant made by him in the British Museum: object number 1888,1201.276 ).
While the present copy lacks a colophon, all other texts in the same volume were transcribed in 1070/1659-60 by the scribe ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Zayn al-Dīn al-ʿĀmilī (علي بن محمد بن الحسن بن زين الدين العاملي). F. 165v bears a marginal note referring to the text's transmission by the scribe's ancestor Zayn al-Dīn.

الحمد لله رب العالمين والصلوة والتسليم على سيدنا محمد خاتم النبيين والمرسلين وعلى آله
وصحبه أجمعين وبعد فهذه رسالة مختصرة نافعة إن شاء الله تعالى أجمع فيها بين رسالتي
المقنطرات للشيخي الإمام العالم شمس الدين محمد المِزي وجمال الدين عبد الله المارديني...
Ends (f. 165r, lines 16- f. 165v, line 2):

قوسه والباقي فهو فضل دائرة في جهة المشرق إن كان الباقي أقل من نصف قوسه
في جهة المغرب إن كان أكثر وأما إرتفاعه فأستخرجه في فضل دائرة وليس مخفي عليك جهته
