Edition: The only early version of Heike monogatari 平家物語 in roman transcription. Printed at the Jesuit Mission in Amakusa.
Contents: A shortened version of Heike monogatari, written in colloquial Japanese of the late-16th century in the form of a dialogue between a certain Umanojō 右馬之允 and Kiichi Kengyō 喜一検校. The Christian convert Fabian is credited with the work of translation into colloquial Japanese, and also with authorship of the preface on verso of title page. This is a combined preface to the three works contained in this volume: Heike monogatari, Esopo no fabvlas and Kinkushū. At the end of the book, following p. 554, is a 42-page glossary explaining 'words difficult to distinguish' (分別しにくきことば) in the two works Heike monogatari and Esopo no fabvlas.
