Hunting: The Terai region, with its alluvial soil, glasslands, river valleys and mixed decidous forests was once home to over 20 species of big game mammals like tiger, leopard, elephant, rhino, bear, bison and wild buffalo. It was known to be one of the best hunting grounds for Shikar or big game hunting in the Indian subcontinent.
