Five maps and charts mounted on rolls. Summary description of contents:
1. Map of Staffordshire and parts of Shropshire and Cheshire, with the magnetic meridians. Dated 1680. Dimensions: 680 x 380 mm.
2. Map of Greenland [Grønland], Lapland [former administrative division of Finland, now Lappi], Norway, Iceland, and Nova Zembla [Novaya Zemlya]. Signed and dated in the lower margin at centre ‘By John Cracroft May 29 1740’. Dimensions: 650 x 965 mm.
3. Chart of the bay and harbour of Caledonia, South America. There is an inscription in English at the bottom of the sheet, describing the ‘Golden Island’, its orography and hydrography and the presence of gold in the soil and stones. The text bears the date 1699. Dimensions: 450 x 285 mm.
4. Map of part of Montgomeryshire [Montgomery]. Dimensions: 530 x 740 mm.
5. 'A new and exact survey of Rochester, Chatham, and the River Medway, with the castles, Forts, Docks and moorings of the ships, taken by Joseph Spice'. This title is inscribed on the map within a cartouche in watercolour. All place names are of locations in the United Kingdom. Dimensions: 540 x 147 mm.
