Note: The introduction begins on folio 2r. The last commandment in the body of the work is numbered 285, but twenty-seven others are briefly enumerated at the end as a kind of supplement. Folio 3 and 4 (the latter being mutilated) contain an incomplete index of the commandments. A complete list is given on folios 170v-172v, but the order of days is not marked there beyond the thirs day of the week (at the 98th commandment). The form of divorce (folio 74v) is dated 5139 (1379), the place named being Stendal. The divorcing husband's name is put down as Eliezer Taku ben Shelomoh, the wonam's name being Roza bat Perets. Folios 173r-174r contain tables for calendar calculations. The first maḥzor on folio 173r is ערה and the last רפז. Folios 173v, 174r have references to the feasts and fasts, and to various parashayot.

Edward Harley (owner) bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish (owner), née Holles (owner) (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (owner) (b. 1715, d. 1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
