Wylie: rgyal po dri med kun ldan gyi rnam thar bzhugaso (wylie transliteration of the actual title, which is a slighly shortened form of the more commonly found title rgyal po dri med kun ldan gyi rnam thar bzhugs so). The biography of (Dharma) King Drimed Kunden. This is one of the Indian Jātaka tales of the former lives of the Buddha (also known as the story of King Viśvantara / Vessantara). It is a story of unlimited generosity and compassion. A long text written in Tibetan Uchen script (Wylie. dbu chen), wood block printed on thin handmade paper. Size approx 305 x 80 mm. Underneath the printed title of the cover page is the name Drimed Kunden ( དྲི་མེད་ཀུན་ལྡན ) written in the form of Umed Chu Yig (Wylie. dbu med 'khyug yig) a quick writing form of Tibetan cursive (headless) hand writing. . Creation dates: Actual date of text unknown. Perhaps Late 19th / Early 20th century, age suggested by the owner.
Custodial history: An item owned by the family of Buchen Pema Tsewang and passed down through generations of Lama Mani in Tibet. Following his death the material has been handed down to his son Pema Choephel who is not a practising Lama Manipa.
