Leigh family archive. The archive consists of around 370 unpublished original pieces, chiefly letters written between 1684 and 1788 between the Leighs of Adlestrop, Jane Austen’s mother’s family. It contains hitherto unknown information about Austen’s family. Includes the lifelong exchange of letters between Theophilus Leigh of Adlestrop, Master of Balliol College Oxford, and his daughter Mary, referred to throughout as Molly.
