The Westminster Tournament Challenge, an invitation to the Westminster Tournament, the joust held in honour of the birth of a son, Prince Henry, to Henry VIII (r. 1509-1547) and Catherine of Aragon (b. 1485, d. 1536) on New Year's Day, 1511.
The document concludes with the signatures of those who took part over the two days of the joust, including: Henry VIII; Charles Brandon (b. 1484?, d. 1545), 1st duke of Suffolk; Leonard Grey (b. 1490?, d. 1541), viscount Graney; Thomas Howard, either the second duke of Norfolk (b. 1443, d. 1524) or the third duke of Norfolk (b. 1473, d. 1554); Thomas Boleyn (b. 1476/7, d. 1539), earl of Wiltshire and earl of Ormond; Henry Stafford (b. 1479?, d. 1523), earl of Wiltshire; and William Parr (b. 1480?, d. 1547), baron Parr of Horton.
The Challenge was commissioned by Henry VIII and produced by the workshop of Sir Thomas Wriothesley (d. 1534), a long-serving officer of arms at the College of Arms in London.

Partial border of a green plant with white and red roses and pomegranates, representing Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon with 2 royal badges of a portcullis (badly rubbed) and a crowned Tudor rose as well as blue flags representing the 4 allegorical characters in the tournament.

Made for the Westminster Tournament of 1511 to celebrate the birth of prince Henry to Catherine of Aragon and Henry VIII; signed by Henry VIII and other members of his court, including: Charles Brandon (b. 1484?, d. 1545), 1st duke of Suffolk, Leonard Grey (b. 1490?, d. 1541), viscount Graney, Thomas Howard, either the second duke of Norfolk (b. 1443, d. 1524) or the third duke of Norfolk (b. 1473, d. 1554), Thomas Boleyn Boleyn (b. 1476/7, d. 1539), earl of Wiltshire and earl of Ormond, Henry Stafford (b. 1479?, d. 1523), earl of Wiltshire, William Parr (b. 1480?, d. 1547), baron Parr of Horton.
John Anstis the Elder (b. 1669, d. 1744), herald and antiquary: given by him to Robert Harley (prior to 1724), together with other charters in his collection (see Wright and Wright, Diary (1966), I, pp. 15, 176).
The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (b. 1661, d. 1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (b. 1689, d. 1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (b. 1715, d. 1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
