Portrays the River Karun in north-western Persia [Iran] from approximately 20 miles north-east of Ahwaz [Ahvaz] downstream approximately 170 miles to its confluence with the Shat el Arab [Shatt al Arab] (spelled Shat al Arab on the map face) at Mohameerah [Khorramshahr] (also spelled Mohamerah on the map face). Depicts hydrology, including soundings and sandbanks, vegetation, settlements, abandoned settlements, forts, mosques and place names. Geographical notes provide additional information on terrain, land and river navigation, wood supply, ancient canals and ethnography. A note below the title gives a brief compilation methodology.
