Portrays the River Karun in north-western Persia [Iran] from approximately twelve miles north of Shuster [Shushtar] downstream approximately eighty miles to Ahwaz [Ahvaz]; and the River Dizful [Dez] from approximately thirty miles south of Dezful downstream approximately forty miles to its confluence with the Karun at Band-i-Kir [Band Qir]; and the thirty-five-mile Aub-i-Gargar Canal system between Shuster and Band-i-Kir. Depicts hydrology, including soundings and sandbanks, relief by hachures, canals, vegetation, settlements, ruined settlements, forts and place names. Geographical notes provide additional information on navigation and ethnology.
The margin contains an unscaled cross section of hills near Shuster.
The sheet bears the imprint 'Lithographed in the Q[uarter].M[aster]. Gen[eral]'s Office [continuation faded away]'. Signed by Henry Blosse Lynch (Euphrates Expedition), William Beaumont Selby (Indian Navy) and James Felix Jones (Euphrates Flotilla).
