Contains a summary of the History of the Hermandad of Dolores [Fraternity of Sorrows], apparently written by María Valdés de Marchant, at the beginning of the 19th century. It tells of the origins on the Island of Juan Fernández, the events that occurred after the Independence of Chile, the decrees issued for the establishment of the Institute, its development during the second half of the nineteenth century, the celebration of its centenary and some biographical data of prominent partners. It also includes a summary of the annual report for the period between July 1, 1917 and June 30, 1918 (40,403 patients were treated in total) The loose papers contain a prayer for the Virgin of Mercy, redeemer of captives.
Contiene un resumen de la historia de la Hermandad de Dolores, al parecer, escrito por María Valdés de Marchant, a principios del siglo XIX. Relata los orígenes en la Isla de Juan Fernández, los sucesos que ocurrieron tras la Independencia de Chile, los decretos expedidos para el establecimiento del Instituto, su desarrollo durante la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, la celebración de su centenario y algunos datos biográficos de socios destacados. Incluye, asimismo, un resumen de la memoria anual para el período comprendido entre el 1° de julio de 1917 y el 30 de junio de 1918 (se atendieron 40.403 enfermos en total). Los papeles sueltos contienen una plegaria para la Virgen de la Merced, redentora de cautivos.
