A versification by ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAṣr (عبد الرحمن ابن عصر, fl. 16th century) of al-Maṭlab fī al-ʿamal bi-al-rubʿ al-mujayyab (المطلب في العمل بالربع المجيب) in twenty chapters (باب) by Badr al-Dīn Abū ‘Abd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Shāfi‘ī al-Miṣrī al-Dimashqī (بدر الدين أبو عبد الله محمد بن محمد بن أحمد الشافعي المصري الدمشقي, b. 1423, d. 1490), known as Sibṭ al-Māridīnī (سبط المارديني), timekeeper (موقّت) of the al-Azhar Mosque at Cairo (see f. 41r, lines 12-13).
The text was originally completed in Rabīʿ I or II 966/January-March 1588 (see colophon, f. 47v, lines 4-5, transcribed below).
A now-missing folio after f. 43 contained most of bāb 10.
Begins (f. 41r, lines 2-6):
قال ابن عصر وهو عبد الرحمن
أثابه الله سبيل الغفران
الحمد لله الذي قد سوغا نعمه لخلقه واسبغا
وشرح الأفكار والفهوما بنوره حتى تدرك العلوما
وأوضح الغامض بالبرهان بعد اعتباصه على الأذهان
Ends (f. 47v, lines 1-3):
من مطالع الشروق يبقى ما بقي من ليلك المظلم بالتحقق
فانظر إلى حصة فجرك وما يبقى فإن تساويا فلتعلما
أن التوسط لذلك يلزم للفجر والله تعالى أعلم
Author's colophon (f. 47v, lines 4-8):
قد انتهى الكتاب نظمًا محتوي على المراد في ربيع النبوي
سنة ست بعد تسعين خلت من بعد تسعمائة قد كملت
فالحمد لله على نيل المنى وصلواته على نبينا
محمد وآله والصحب ما دارت النجوم حول القطب
تمت بحمد الله وحسن عونه وصلى الله على سيدنا ومولانا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه وسلم تسليمًّا وآخر دعوانا أن الحمد لله رب العالمين
