Mission letter for 1864 written by Rev. Levi Spaulding. Letter is split into categories and contains a detailed index. Include: tabular view of the ACM's ten churchesl updates on the Sabbath schoolsl statistics on native contributions to mission objects like churches, schools, pastors, etc.; information on vernacular village schools and the positive results of examinations; difficulties with native congregations dwindling; comments on the Theological and Training School's conversion successes and initital success in training village schoolmasters over the summer; report on the Uduvil Girls' Boarding School, incluing a complete list of pupils (crossed out and marked "omit"), special notes on unusual circumstances such as elopment, and examination remarks; description of the examinations for native assistants; translation of medical books from English to Tamil to serve the Tamil-speaking medical class; results of the latest Bible colportage, including number of houses visited and Bibles sold/given; report of the publishing committee on the Morning Star, the Children's Friend (published by the Children's Christian Association), and school books; and a report on the number of books issued by the book depository. The end of this item includes additional information on the Uduvil Girls' Boarding School from 1824-1840. The letter lists the following pastors: J.C. Smith, S. Green, L. Spaulding, Hunt, Stickney, Asbury, Comebrus?, W.W. Howland, E.P. Hastings, and Saunders.
