(1) mss document summarized as: "A Statement 1st, of the different improvements adopted in the British Government of India from 1806 to 1893 on the suggestion of Sir Alexander Johnston. 2nd, Of all the government despatches, Minutes of Councils and addresses from the people of British India to the House of Lords and Commons, resolution of Public Societies in Great Britain, proceedings of both Houses of Parliament, and works published in England, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, and the United States of America, approving of these measures in the strongest terms. 3rd, Of the circumstances under which a promise was made by the late King to Sir Alexander Johnston in 1810 to create him a Baronet at the time he was appointed by His Majesty Chief Justice and Resident of His Majesty's Council in Ceylon on account of the numerous services which he had performed for the public."; (2) two typed copies of mss document; (3) two typed copies of article entitled, "Alexander Johnston, Third Chief of Ceylon.".
