A versified commentary by ʿAlī ibn Ghānim al-Maqdisī (علي بن غانم المقدسي, d. 1596), of the Fatḥīyah Treatise on the Use of the Sine Quadrant (الرسالة الفتحية في العمل بالربع المجيب, see f. 52r, line 10) in twenty chapters (باب) by Badr al-Dīn Abū ‘Abd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Shāfi‘ī al-Miṣrī al-Dimashqī (بدر الدين أبو عبد الله محمد بن محمد بن أحمد الشافعي المصري الدمشقي, b. 1423, d. 1490), known as Sibṭ al-Māridīnī (سبط المارديني), timekeeper (موقّت) of the al-Azhar Mosque at Cairo.
Begins (f. 52r, lines 4-8):
قال علي وهو ابن غانم كان من الخيرات خير غانم
أحمد رب العالمين وحده ثم الصلاة والسلام بعده
على النبي وآله والصحب وبعد هذا نظم علم المجيب
يحوي كتاب الفاضل الإمام المارديني البدر ذي التمام
أثرته لكثرة الفوائد فيه...

فإن تبقى قدر حصة الشفق فأول العشاء حلوله اتفق
وحصة الفجر إذا تلغيها من حصة الشروق فافقيها
لحصة فهو قد توسطا أول وقت الفجر ليسر غلطا
