- Includes: correspondence of Margaret Joyce and Macnab covering the period 1946-1964, partly copies, discussing William Joyce’s life, his trial, and their belief that the trial was unjust and Joyce’s conviction unsafe; extracts from William Joyce’s prison letters to Macnab; Macnab’s notes on the origins of the name ‘Lord Haw Haw’, Joyce’s state of mind in summer 1939, the legality of Joyce’s conviction, and Joyce’s last months in England and his intentions when he left for Germany (the latter was prepared for A K Chesterton for his series of newspaper articles on Joyce. A letter from Macnab to Chesterton is also included); the transcripts of Irish [radio?] broadcasts by Macnab entitled ‘Ambassadors in Hell’, a review of the memoirs of Captain Teodoro Palacios, and ‘Colonel Blimp in the Garden of Eden’, and the translation of a Spanish newspaper article entitled ‘The Giant’ about Palacios; and a letter from Michael Forman, the then owner of the William Joyce papers, requesting permission to publish Macnab’s letters and articles collected here.
