The folder contains notes by Penelope Chetwode on temples in Kulu sent to Dr Krishna Deva at ASI, New Delhi (1970-1971).
The folder also includes: 'Record of a Tour in the Sutlej Valley, Simla Hills from 29 October 1973 till 6 November 1973 or In some Unknown Himalayan Temples' by O C Sud, an account of an expedition led by Penelope Chetwode (3 copies); 'Possibilities of Existence of Harappa Sites in the Upper Reaches of the Sutlej and the Jumna Rivers (Himachal Pradesh) with fragments of evidence' by O C Sud (1977); Note on Nirmand by Mohinder Parkash, issued by the W H Mountaineering Club, Nirmand (2 copies); List of villages, with dates of festivals; Revised appendix to Penelope Chetwode's book Kulu listing the principal temples; and a report on Nirmand by Penelope Chetwode.
There are also photocopies of articles by Laxman Singh Thakur, Department of History, Himachal Pradesh University, on 'Human Sacrifice (Bhunda) in the Western Himalayas', 'The Socio-economic Functions of Temple in the Western Himalayas, with special reference to Himachal Pradesh' (1981) and 'Pagoda Temples of the Western Himalayas' (1981), and a copy of 'Six Unpublished Anthropomorphic Wooden Sculptures at Gazan (Kulu)' by Helene Diserens from the Central Asiatic Journal (1981).
There is a newspaper cutting from The Listener featuring an article 'A Passion for India - Penelope Chetwode describes her visit to the Himalayan temples' (31 January 1974); an article by Laxman Singh Thakur in The Sunday Standard on the 'Decaying Temples of Nirmand' (21 June 1981); and a copy of an article by H L Shuttleworth 'A Mountain Sacrifice' in The Times of India Illustrated Weekly (1919).
