General papers and correspondence of D. M. Thomas of around 1985–1986, along with manuscript and typescript drafts for his 'Russian Nights' quintet of novels (when still projected as a trilogy), especially 'Swallow' and 'Sphinx'. With typescript copies of other writings and articles by Thomas.

Correspondents include Andrew Hewson (Thomas's literary agent), Griffin Productions Limited and Martha Freeman of Sobek Expeditions, Inc.

Prose pieces include a review of 'The Bourgeois Experience: Victoria to Freud' (Vol. I, 'Education of the Senses') by Peter Gay (Oxford University Press, 1984) and 'Confusions in Slaka' about a trip to Bulgaria. Some material concerns D. M. Thomas's translation and adaptation for radio of Alexander Pushkin's play 'Boris Godunov' (a letter from John Theocharis of the British Broadcasting Corporation), and an extract from the transcript of a radio programme, 'Kaleidoscope' (a conversation between P. Allen and E. Feinstein). With a typescript document entitled 'Appendix (Newspaper extracts), the synopsis of a proposed television drama 'Ghost-House', and typescript copies of two poems: 'For Francesca' and 'Sadako Sasaki'.
