Family photos of D. M. Thomas from the 1920s to the 1960s. Photographs from Thomas's parents' youth, his early family life and his first marriage, mainly in Cornwall (especially Carnkie, Redruth) and Hereford. Many bear later annotations, some (but not all) in Thomas's own hand. Subjects include his parents, his parents' contemporaries, his first wife Maureen (née Skewes) and daughter Caitlin. With one photograph of his second wife, Denise (née Aldred), in her childhood.
Two photographs — one of Thomas's father in a performance troupe ('Ten Stouthearted Men'), and another of Thomas's daughter Caitlin sitting in a swing looking up at the photographer ('Happy Caitlin in the garden') — have been transferred from Add MS 89363/9/9.
