A fragment of a bilingual translation of Saṅgharakkhita's work on Pāli composition and rhetoric. Subodhālaṅkāra, known in Burma under abbreviated title Ālaṅkā, is a common curricular text studied by Burmese monks. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, it was usually studied at the final stages of training. Parakkama, the author of this nissaya, lived in the Chanʻ kyuṃ monastery to the south of the town of Taungngu and claimed to hail from the lineage of Ariyāvaṃsadhammasenapati, a famous fifteenth-century monastic scholar who resided in Pinya and Sagaing. A fragment transmitted in the surviving part of this manuscript represents the rendering of verses 21 to 67 in chapter 1 of Saṅgharakkhita's work.
