These volumes contain short notes on Meriel's daily activities, mostly conveying news about her relationships. The volume for 1936 makes the first reference to Ralph Richardson during the script reading for The Amazing Dr Clitterhouse and proceeds to record the beginning of their relationship. Throughout the diaries, Ralph is often indicated by the initial 'R'.
