- A brief introduction states that the list 'contains two parts, the name and description of the chief places, and some official words in common use in the Bombay Presidency. The spellings are according to rules sanctioned by Government. The meanings of official words are in no case authoritative. The places are arranged under the seven heads of Bombay Town and Island ; the provinces of Gujarát, Konkan, Deccan, and Southern Marátha Country ; Aden ; and the Portuguese Possessions. In each of the four states, the district and states are shown separate, the districts first'. A list of Sind places is printed separately as an appendix, included in this volume. There are no publication details and no date.
