Kitāb istijlāb rūḥānīyat al-bahāʼim kullihā
Aristotle
- Scope & Content:
-
Treatise on attracting the spiritual beings (روحانيات) of animals taken from Hermes (هرمس) and recorded by Aristotle (أرسطاطاليس, d. 322 BC). The introduction to the text gives it the alternative title al-Madhāṭīs (المذاطيس, see f. 21v, line 3, transcribed below), while the colophon suggests that the material presented here is from the Book of Asnūṭās (كتاب الأسنوطاس, see f. 32r, line 3, transcribed below). The latter word in the title, written elsewhere in the volume as al-Ashnūṭās (الأشنوطاس, see below item 5, ff. 85v-92v), should probably be read as al-Ustuwaṭṭās (الأستوطاس, see Saif, 'A Preliminary Study of the Pseudo-Aristotelian Hermetica: Texts, Context, and Doctrines', Al-ʻUsūr al-Wusṭā 29 [2021], pp. 26 and 67).
Begins (f. 21v, lines 2-5):

Ends (ff. 31v, line 14-32r, line 2):
Colophon (f. 32r, lines 2-5):
