This material is a Tamil palm-leaf manuscript from Northern Province, Sri Lanka. This is a Tamil verse work written in Tamil script. This manuscript is identified to be a compilations of two other known manuscripts, namely Aakattiyar Vaittiya Pūraṇam 205 and Aṅkātipātam. It could not be determined whether two different books got mixed up or whether the verses were selected from two books for teaching purposes. Aakattiyar Vaittiya Pūraṇam 205 is an Ayurvedic medical text. While a large number of Siddha texts are attributed to the Saint Aakattiyar, in reality they are created by Siddha saints at different points of time and attributed to Aakattiyar. The material has significant loss and thus some parts are illegible. This particular manuscript does not reflect the complete version of the original text. It contains methods of making various medicines, medicinal waters, oils, medicinal pastes, and powders to cure diseases in accordance with Ayurvedic medical systems and practices. Aṅkātipātam is a medical text. It is considered to be a part of the larger well-known medical treatise, Pararācacēkaram. The material has significant loss and thus some parts are illegible. This particular manuscript does not reflect the complete version of the original text. It details the symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases according to the Siddha medical system and practice. Further, it also describes the uses of various plants and vegetables, and methods of preparing them for health and medicinal purposes.
