This material is a Tamil palm-leaf manuscript from the Eastern region, Sri Lanka. The time period of the manuscript is estimated to be between 1801-1899. The name of the author and year are not given directly in the manuscript. He uses the songs to inform the people of his name. Lower caste people used this method in that era. The manuscript has 2256 songs on 428 pages. The pages are in a deteriorated state. However, the letters are clear to read. The original text was written in the middle of the 13th century, the period of the Tamil King Terikārkōḷ- karikāṟcōḻaṉ. This particular manuscript was written in the early 15th century , the Kandiyan period. The protective cover is made of Diospyros ebenum. (Diospyros ebenum is a tree with strong wood.
