This material is a Tamil palm-leaf manuscript titled " Akaval ēṭu" from Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. The period of this manuscript is unknown but it is estimated to be from the period between 1901- 1950. This palm-leaf manuscript primarily consists of the texts of akaval, which refers to the renditions of invocations of gods and godesses namely vayiravaṉ vīrapattiraṉ periyatampirāṉ ammaṉ. It is mentioned that this manuscript was written by Ilayathambi Chinnaiya from Batticaloa. This book based on the book of Parikari Balipodi who lived in Pudukudiripu, Batticaloa. It contains Vayiravaṉ akaval, kaṇṇakaiyam'maṉ akaval, piḷḷaiyār akaval, māriyam'maṉ akaval, maṉōṉmaṇi pūcai akaval, vataṉamār akaval, murukaiyaṉ akaval, nākatampirāṉ akaval, and māriyam'maṉ periya akaval. All of these deities are of deep significance within localised practices of worship. The akaval form is a key part of this ritual practice. The manuscript contains 176 pages. The manuscript is in good condition. The writings are clear to read.
