This material is a Tamil palm-leaf manuscript from Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. The period of this manuscript is unknown but it is estimated to be from the period between 1901- 1950. This palmleaf manuscript is long although it is only four pages. It is titled as the Law of Nī.Pa. Tampaiyaṉ. It is authored by the person of the same name in the title. As it outlines some core principles of medicinal practice, it may use the term for law in tamil caṭṭam. It refers to diseases such as rheumatic conditions, epilepsy, internal inflamations, ringworm, polyps, piles, nausea, hiccups, phlegm conditions and memory loss. The information is presented in poetic form and may have been conducive to singing.
