This material is a Tamil palm-leaf manuscript titled kaṇṇakaiyammaṉ kuḷirttik kāviyam, from Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. Since the pages are in deteriarated state, the writer and period of this manuscript is unknown but it is estimated to be from the period between 1901- 1950. This palmleaf manuscript consists the rituals performed on the last day of the annual festivals at the kaṇṇakaiyammaṉ temple. This goddess is also the protagonist kaṇṇaki from the Tamil epic cilappatikāram. She is widely worshipped as a goddess in Sri Lanka. This text are the songs sung, known as kuḷirtti, to ritualistically assuage the anger that kaṇṇaki felt that led to the burning of the ancient town of Madurai in present day Tamilnadu. This text is of unique importance to Sri Lanka, specifcially in the eastern areas where kaṇṇaki worship is widely seen even today. This manuscript has 38 pages.
