Testimony of Amphillis Ferrours, widow, of St Margaret's Parish, Westminster, that John Wilcox, Jane, his wife, and Thomas Jones had falsely accused Sir Robert Cotton (1571-1631), 1st baronet, knight, of having had carnal knowledge of Margaret Ferrours, her daughter and the wife of John Stephenson, in Amphillis' house. Amphillis denies that this happened and swears that Margaret was a virgin before her marriage.
Given 5 October 1630, with the signature of Amphillis Ferrours.
Endorsed: 'Sealed signed and delivered by the / woman named Amphillis Ferrour / in the presence of / Thomas Ridgley / Thomas Williams / The mark of Lewis Williams' (early 17th century).
'See XXIV. 37.' (18th century).
Affixed with a seal of Amphillis Ferrours, oval, red, with a heraldic shield with a chevron between three crescents, a mullet for difference.

Sir Robert Bruce Cotton (b. 1571, d. 1631), 1st baronet, antiquary and politician. Cotton’s collection was augmented by his son, Sir Thomas Cotton (b. 1594, d. 1662), 2nd baronet, and his grandson, Sir John Cotton.
Sir John Cotton (b. 1621, d. 1702), 3rd baronet: bequeathed the entire Cotton collection of books and manuscripts to trustees ‘for Publick Use and Advantage’, 12 and 13 William III, c. 7.
Formed one of the foundation collections of the British Museum in 1753.
