This Manuscript Tirukkalitruppatiyaar is one among the fourteen Saiva siddhanta works. According to a tradition, this commentary in palm leaf was placed at the bottom of the sanctum sanctorum steps of the Nataraja temple of Chidambaram. The step has Elephant’s head. One of these lifted and the manuscript on the feet of Lord Nataraja. So the work came to be known as Tirukkalitruppatiyaar. This work has 100 stanzas.
சைவ சித்தாந்தக் கோட்பாடுகளை விளக்கும் மெய்கண்ட சாத்திரங்கள் பதினான்கில் ஒன்றே திருக்களிற்றுப்படியார். 100 பாடல்களால் ஆனது. சிவபெருமான் திருவருளை வேண்டித் தில்லை நடராசப்பெருமான் மீது பாடப்பெற்றது. இந்நூலாசிரியர் தாழ்ந்த குலத்தவர் என்பதால் கோயிலுக்குள் செல்லமுடியாமல் தானெழுதிய நூலை தில்லை நடராசப்பெருமான் கோயிலுக்கு முன் செல்லும் பஞ்சாக்கரப்படியில் வைக்க, படியின் இருபக்கம் உள்ள கல்யானைகள் உயிர்பெற்றுத் தம்தும்பிக்கையால் அந்நூலை எடுத்துச் சிவன் திருவடியில் வைக்க, அந்நூலின் பெருமையை அடியவர்கள் ஏற்றுகொண்டு அந்நூலுக்குத் திருக்களிற்றுப்படியார் எனப் பெயர் இட்டனர். உரையாசிரியர் பெயர் தெரியவில்லை. இச்சுவடியில் முதல் 88 பாடல்கள் மட்டும் உள்ளன.
