- The fourth edition of a guide map at a scale of 3 inches to 1 mile, showing roads and selected locations. The map is based on surveys executed in 1943 with the addition of a few major corrections. An inset map in the top left corner of the map is an index to Districts, Municipalities & Municipal Wards, at a scale of 1 inch to 2 miles. In the lower right corner of the map are two further inset maps: an index to Bus Routes, Calcutta & Howrah at 1 inch to 2 miles; and an enlargement of Dalhousie Square and Esplanade at a scale of 3 inches to 1 mile. Published under the direction of the Surveyor General of India. Printed at the Survey of India Offices (P.L.O.) 1957. Envelopes associated with items donated by Major Frith are held at IOR/X/14743/2.
