Incantations, enchantements, disenchantments, description of various customs, lyric songs, shouts at hora, descriptions of dances. Part are recorded from informants not in the original context of performance, part are recorded in their original context. The context of performance and the additional instruments are stated by the informants for some of the folkloric creations. Gathered in Cahul town, Vâlcova village, Badicu village, Cahul district. Creations: 1. Descântec de strâns; 2. Descântec de spăriet; 3. Descântec când te sparii de şerpe; 4. Descântec de durere de pântece; 5. Obiceiuri Scaiul (description); 5. Sfântul Andrei sau usturoiul (description); 6. La sărbătoarea Sf. Toadere; 7. Various customs and superstitions (short description); 8. Cântă cucoşii dimineaţa; 9. Cântec (De-ar fi mândra-n deal la cruce); 10. Cântec (Bun îi hinu şi rachiu); 11. Strigături auzite la horă în satele Crihana Veche-Vâlcova; 12. Alte strigături auzite la cumătrie, la ţăranul Nistor Vasile; 13. Various customs and superstitions (short description); 14. Jocuri din Cahul, Crihana, Vâlcova (short description).
Custodial history: The archival material in this notebook was gathered in the summer of 1946 and 1947 by a student of the State University of Chişinău, Cahul branch, in the second year of bachelor studies, working as intern for the Institute of Language and Literature. It was taken into custody by the Institute of Language and Literature of the Moldovan Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences / MSSR Academy of Sciences and had the same custodial history as the entire collection.
Extent and format of original material: 1 notebook of 20 files. Not typical format (16.5 cm x 19 cm).
Owner(s) of original material: Institute of Language and Literature, nowadays Institute of Romanian Philology "Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu".
