Medical suction cups
- Scope & Content:
- Medical suction cups. A collection of five suction cups: two brass cones and three animal horn tips that used for "cupping" the technique of applying a vacuum to remove bad blood (black blood). The cup is applied to the skin for half an hour, the hole in the tip of the cup sealed for that time with a special piece of meat. The horns tips are from blue sheep, deer or cows.
Extent: Five cone shaped medical cups made from brass or animal horn.
Size and dimensions of original material: Varying from 6 to 8 cm in length.
Condition of original material: Worn through age and usage.
Arrangement: All material kept in the household prayer room.
